Description:
Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist (Part-Time)
Job Classification: Licensed Instructional
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Work Schedule: Academic Year (2 days per week/15 hours a week)
General Description:
The Speech Language Pathologist shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language, and hearing disorders helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum. Career Academy offers a low case load, a supportive & collaborative team environment, and a flexible schedule that can be either full time or operate on a contractor status.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree and valid
- Indiana state teaching license in Communication Disorders or ability to obtain appropriate state licensure.
Primary Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.
- Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore the communicative efficiency of students with communication problems of organic and nonorganic etiology.
- Provides counseling guidance and language development therapy to disabled students.
- Reviews student's file to obtain background information before evaluation to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that adequate information is available.
- Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
- Develops and implements individualized plans for assigned students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Based upon the individual education plans, provides speech, language and communication therapy in a variety of settings.
- Evaluates and monitors students.
- Reviews treatment plan, and assesses individual performance to modify, change, or write new programs.
- Attends meetings and conferences and participates in other activities to promote professional growth.
- Instructs individuals to monitor their speech and provides ways to practice new skills.
School Activities
- May be required to attend and/or participate in such other activities as directed by the Administrator such as faculty meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, commencement exercises, chaperoning student activities, guiding students, participating on faculty committees, studying, and helping resolve school problems.
Essential Skills and Abilities
- Ability to use technology for documentation and preparation of professional materials
- Ability to communicate assessment results, in written and oral forms, to parents and professionals
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate behavior plans for use in general and special education settings
- Ability to prioritize tasks, allocate time, and maintain schedule flexibility
- Non-Negotiable aspects of the teaching profession, including WORK HOURS & COMMITMENTS, POLICIES & PROCEDURES, ATTENDANCE, and EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS.
- Master’s Degree and valid Indiana state teaching license in communication disorders or ability to obtain appropriate state licensure.
- Non-Negotiable aspects of the teaching profession, including work hours & commitments, policies & procedures, attendance, and employability skills.
