Essential Functions (list in order of importance including measures)
- Provides direct patient care, including ordering and evaluating of diagnostic tests and managing of procedures according to established clinical practice guidelines and in accordance with the privileges granted by the Department of Emergency Services.
- Identifies deviations from normal and consults, co-manages and refers patients as appropriate according to established clinical practice guidelines and in accordance with the privileges granted by the Department of Emergency Services.
- Serves as a resource for staff nurses and physicians in the Emergency Department to facilitate the coordination of care and the movement of patients through the continuum.
- Provides individualized patient/family teaching, health counseling and health advocacy services to patients, their families and significant others.
- Completes all required documentation in a timely manner.
Marginal Functions (list in order of importance)
- Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by Saint Anthony Hospital and the respective department while adhering to the Hospital’s confidentiality norms and standards. Actively and consistently demonstrates the core values of Saint Anthony Hospital in all interactions with others.
- Assumes responsibility for knowing and maintaining established hospital and departmental objectives, policies/procedures including general sanitation, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Participates in performance activities including problem identification, data collection, solution selection, implementation and evaluation. Also assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies as appropriate.
- Participates in staff meetings and other in services, meetings or committees as required.
- Participates in research, statistics, continuing education and quality assurance activities.
- Participates in instruction of medical students, advanced practice nursing students, nursing students and other adult learners as assigned.

- Clinical abilities as demonstrated through training, education, certification and experience.
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Strong leadership skills
