About This Position
Small businesses represent 99.9% of all companies, yet they're still forced to choose between clunky, outdated enterprise phone systems or their personal phones. This multi-billion dollar market has been overlooked for decades, left to cobble together solutions that slow them down instead of helping them grow.
Quo is changing that. We bring calls, texts, and customer information together into one easy-to-use, AI-powered platform. We’re not just building a phone system. We’re setting a new standard for how businesses connect with their customers.
Driven by our values, we move fast, build with determination, and obsess over delivering value to the businesses that have been underserved for far too long.
Today, Quo is trusted by more than 90,000 companies and rated #1 in customer satisfaction on G2. We’re backed by Y Combinator, Tiger Global, Craft Ventures, Slow Ventures, and other top-tier investors. It’s safe to say we’re onto something big.
About the role
As Community & Events Lead, we’re looking for someone who can define a cohesive community vision, determine how to measure the success of that vision, and build trust with customers, business owners, potential users, and partners across the small business and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
You’ll be the point person for creating spaces where small businesses connect, learn, and champion each other (and us). From a Reddit AMA that sparks 100 great questions to a conference booth that entices people to stop instead of walking by to an active group of 100s of advocates waiting to be unleashed, you’ll transform our customers into a community. This role is equally strategic and tactical: you need to think big while also shipping high-quality programs, campaigns, and experiences that point directly at clear business outcomes. You’re establishing this function and leading the way in showing us its future.
While you’ll own this work, you won't be alone! Collaborators will be here to help you along the way. Our Marketing Team has a healthy appreciation for storytelling, scrappiness, and humanity. In a world of bland webinars and forgettable trade show swag, we aim to foster thoughtful community building, run corporate events that don’t feel corporate, and develop programs that turn leads into customers and customers into advocates.
Some of the things you’ll do:
About you

Who we are
As a fully remote company, we thrive as a team. We are curious, ambitious, and dedicated to our work. We value trust above all else, and have a strong bias for action. If you're looking for a place to do your life's work, please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.
And remember, there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. We're looking for optimists with grit and determination, who are excited to face the challenges of a growing startup. Quo is the type of company where you can grow, and we encourage you to apply for this role even if you don't think you meet all the requirements.
We are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse work environment. It is important that you are able to bring your authentic self to work every day. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. #LI-Remote #PostLI

Some of the things you’ll do:
- Define & evolve the community strategy that supports Quo’s brand, product adoption, and long-term user engagement via online advocacy and in-person events.
- Build and nurture our online community spaces so they don’t just sit there and exist, but thrive
- Identify and prioritize key sponsorships to expand Quo’s presence and credibility, and book them. Develop a systematic way to assess and experiment with them, ensuring that our events portfolio continues to grow and deliver value.
- Design online community programs that turn our best customers into active advocates
- Work closely with Content, Partnerships, Growth, and Product to ensure our community and events always tie into the bigger story we’re telling
- Connect your work directly to acquisition goals, ensuring we’re capturing and converting leads and not simply sponsoring events just for the sake of attending them
- Measure what matters: engagement, advocacy, pipeline impact, lead generation… and use what you learn to continually shape a better approach
- Ensure that the voice of our community is heard inside the company, guiding internal advocates to share customer stories and use customer feedback to guide what we build next.
About you
- 10+ years in community and event marketing, ideally at SaaS startups where you had to balance strategy with getting your hands dirty on every part of the process
- Comfort with operating both strategy and scrappiness (sometimes in the same day)
- Experience with Reddit, Slack, or Discord communities
- Time spent creating blending online and in-person advocacy through Customer Advisory Boards, advocacy groups, or other “special” groups of customers.
- A track record of building communities and running events that always stand out from the usual corporate approach and drove real outcomes
- Strong planning skills: you can juggle timelines, budgets, logistics and many different details without losing sight of the bigger picture
- A knack for storytelling and hospitality; you like creating experiences people talk about after they’re over, and know how to keep them connected long after the event has ended.
- Comfort with operating both strategy and scrappiness (sometimes in the same day)
- Previous work with small businesses or start-up/entrepreneurial communities before
