About This Position
CDL Warehouse Operator
Job Scope:
The CDL Warehouse Operator is tasked with sorting and moving trailers around so that the trucks can be filled with finished goods. The CDL Warehouse Operator is also responsible for operation of material handling equipment for the purpose of accurate processing and shipping, which includes but not limited to, scanning, moving, staging, loading, locating, picking, relocating, and stacking product. Accountable for personal safety, behavior, and performance. Participate in a full facility and equipment clean up as directed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- As directed and trained, perform the duties and functions of a warehouse loader by accurately organizing and loading product orders, damage free.
- Conduct daily inspections on yard equipment and communicate equipment needs and repairs to management.
- Safely and efficiently make yard moves using company provided semi-truck.
- Understand and perform various loading procedures for domestic, foreign, and key account shipments.
- Understand and perform trailer loading procedures, rough sides, holes, tires, etc.
- Understand and perform all protocols for using/operating IFS scanners, filling out load sheets, weight tickets, etc.
- ENSURE that only correct, damage-free product is loaded.
- Maintain a First-In-First-Out finished product, inventory management system.
- Obtain load and weigh tickets for each outgoing shipment.
- Operate a shuttle truck to move material on the premises in a safe professional manner.
- Stage mixed and partial pallets for upcoming shipments.
- Perform daily inspections on loading dock equipment and trailer spotting equipment.
- Maintain an orderly warehouse, including sweeping up debris.
- Maintain thorough and legible paperwork when filling out orders.
- Perform and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Communicate production status to oncoming shift personnel.
- Maintain communication with maintenance personnel on major machine issues.
- Maintain Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in accordance with company policy.
- Perform all functions in accordance with sound safety practices and procedures.
- Report all safety violations and safety hazards to Shift Supervisor immediately.
- Be an employee champion who will maintain a strong and positive working relationship with all employees with the utmost integrity, confidentiality, and ethical values.
Additional Job Functions:
- Assist in maintaining a positive team environment and good working relationship by maintaining a positive attitude toward all Diamond team members, vendors, and customers.
- Participate effectively in a team atmosphere by modeling and promoting conflict resolution, diversity, ethical practices, and organizational citizenship.
- Responsible for other duties as deemed necessary by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be computer literate.
- Must have a class A CDL.
- Must have ability to accept temporary assignment changes to assist other areas of the plant.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds of product routinely and climb a ladder to maintenance equipment from a catwalk.
- Must be certified to operate forklifts.
- Responsible for communicating production status to oncoming shift personnel.
- Must work in a safe, professional manner always.
- Must report any accidents, property damage, or near misses to a supervisor immediately.
- Must be willing to/have availability to work any shift (day or night shift).
- Ability to work independently without immediate direction or oversight. Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and integrity.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively communicate in a professional manner.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (communication, listening, team player, cooperative, approachable).
Education & Experience Recommendations:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2 Years experience as a Class A CDL driver.
