The Class A Lead Support Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods within and beyond the Dallas, TX area. This position requires leading by example in driving excellence, adhering to all safety regulations, and supporting the logistics team to meet delivery schedules. The Lead Support Driver will be responsible for mentoring and assisting other drivers, helping to maintain high standards of vehicle operation and customer service. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and communication to address any issues that arise during transit. Ultimately, the Lead Support Driver contributes significantly to the overall success of the transportation operations by ensuring timely deliveries and fostering a culture of safety and reliability.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Class A CDL License (self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance)
- Clean MVR and PSP
- Must be at least 23 years of age and have a minimum of 2 years of full-time verifiable tractor-trailer experience OR 21 years of age with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience IF a graduate from a Truck Driving School or 1 year of Military experience.
- Stable work history
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role within a transportation or logistics environment.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software.
- Customer service experience related to delivery and logistics.
- Additional endorsements such as HazMat, Tanker, or Doubles/Triples.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Lead Support Driver to operate commercial vehicles safely while adhering to all regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with dispatch, customers, and team members to maintain smooth operations and resolve challenges promptly. Leadership and mentoring abilities are utilized daily to support and guide fellow drivers, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Technical skills, including the use of electronic logging devices and transportation software, help in maintaining accurate records and optimizing route management. Additionally, problem-solving skills are critical for addressing unexpected situations on the road, ensuring timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.
