About This Position
Position Summary: The Crew Lead position is the leader of a 2-4 person traffic control team that directs traffic to ensure a safe working environment for contractors. This role is an opportunity to manage and lead a small team, learn and apply more advanced traffic control procedures, and create a safe work environment, which is critical to the success of work being done on the road. It also affords an opportunity to work outside in a team environment. The Crew Lead role is the second step in your career at American Safety and positions you for further advancement into Crew Supervisor, Asst. Crew Coordinator, or Safety Specialist.
Responsibilities:
As an American Safety Traffic Control Crew Lead, you and your team are responsible for maintaining a safe traffic site, controlling traffic flow, site setup and takedown. You are the primary point of contact between the contractor and American Safety when on a job site. You are responsible for maintaining and enhancing the company’s professional image and adhering to the Company’s policies, procedures, and practices.
- Daily briefing with assigned Crew Supervisor
- Communicate crew availability with Crew Coordinator
- Set up and maintain safe job site according to standards
- Submit job paperwork to home office
- Communicate with and evaluate crew members
- Ensure proper crew rotation on site
- Handle jobsite emergencies
- Know, follow, and apply company procedures
- Maximize the operational efficiency of crews to reduce operating expenses
- Supervise inventory and equipment use
- Monitor and train crews on job site safety
- Maintain training standards
- All PPE worn and in good condition

- Track Employee Attitude and Performance Fevers Daily 100%
- Perform Daily Safety Training 100%
- Maintain and Track Trucks Inventory Weekly
- Complete Project documentation and submit to office 100% by end of day
- Supervise crew member improvement plans (EIP) As needed
- Complete Business & Operations Reviews Weekly
- Follow training instruction/schedule Weekly
- Manage site emergencies As needed
- Job site survey from contractors Weekly
Job Qualifications
- 1 year of experience working traffic control or applicable role
- Experience with technology
- Excellent communication skills
- Submit to a pre-employment drug screen
- Must have valid driver's license
- Successfully complete ATSSA work zone installer course
Work requirements
- Frequently required to stand for up to 2 hours at a time
- Frequently use hands and fingers
- Maintain close attention to detail
- Drive to and from crew meeting sites and/or job sites
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
