The RN AMAP Supervisor provides clinical oversight and supervision of AMAP-certified staff responsible for medication administration in accordance with West Virginia regulations. This role ensures safe medication practices, regulatory compliance, staff competency, and consistent nursing oversight within residential and behavioral health treatment settings.
This leader plays a critical role in safeguarding patient care, reducing medication risk, and maintaining compliance with WV state standards and accreditation requirements.
Essential ResponsibilitiesClinical OversightProvide nursing supervision and oversight of AMAP-certified staff administering medications
Ensure compliance with all West Virginia medication administration laws, AMAP regulations, and internal policies
Monitor medication storage, documentation, and administration procedures
Review medication errors and incident reports; implement corrective action plans as needed
Promote safe medication practices and continuous quality improvement
Train, evaluate, and supervise AMAP personnel
Conduct competency validations and annual skills reviews
Provide coaching on medication protocols and health-related procedures
Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of AMAP staff
Support a culture of accountability and patient-centered care
Conduct routine medication audits and chart reviews
Maintain required documentation for inspections, licensing reviews, and accreditation surveys
Investigate and report medication-related incidents in accordance with state and organizational requirements
Partner with leadership to ensure readiness for regulatory and accreditation reviews
Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary treatment teams
Monitor resident health status and medication effectiveness
Support updates to care plans related to medication and nursing needs
Communicate clinical concerns proactively to leadership
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
Completion of WV AMAP RN Trainer requirements (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Knowledge of West Virginia AMAP regulations and medication administration standards
Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience
Supervisory experience preferred, particularly in behavioral health or residential settings
Strong leadership and staff development skills
Deep understanding of medication safety and risk mitigation
Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards
Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-acuity situations
Residential treatment, behavioral health, or long-term care environments
May require travel between program sites
On-call responsibilities may be required
Typically daytime (AM) schedule with flexibility based on program needs
