What You’ll Do as a Clinic Receptionist-
Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive and professional first impression

Answer incoming phone calls, provide accurate information, and route inquiries appropriately

Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and maintain accurate patient records
-
Perform administrative duties, including data entry, filing, and document organization
-
Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy at all times
-
Support efficient patient flow by coordinating with clinical team members
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and waiting area
-
Deliver exceptional customer service that reflects UNC Health Appalachian’s mission, vision, and values
-
High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
-
One (1) year of experience in a medical or clinic setting preferred
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association preferred, but not required
-
Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
-
Proficiency with computers, scheduling systems, and office applications
-
Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
-
Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
-
Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills
-
Ability to remain flexible and calm in a fast-paced environment
-
Prolonged sitting while performing front desk and computer-based work
-
Occasional standing when assisting patients at reception
-
Minimal lifting of files, office supplies, or equipment
-
Frequent keyboard use and computer screen time
-
Adequate vision to read documents and electronic records
-
Indoor, climate-controlled clinical office environment
-
Frequent interaction with patients, families, staff, and providers
-
Moderate noise level typical of healthcare settings
-
Primarily weekday schedule, with occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on clinic needs

Adherence to safety, infection-control standards, and organizational policies
