About This Position

Summary of Position:

The principal role of Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing comprehensive EHS programs that ensure regulatory compliance, reduce organizational risk, and promote a proactive safety culture. This role provides advanced technical expertise in safety, environmental compliance, ergonomics, incident investigations, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior EHS Specialist partners with leadership and front-line employees to drive operational excellence and ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace across all operations with the right requirements including regulatory and compliance.

EHS:

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead all EHS requirements as an example for others to follow
  • Create a culture of awareness, acceptance & adherence to the EHS requirements
  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
  • Schedule routine inspections, and implement training according to findings
  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and maintain appropriate Health, Safety, Environmental, Industrial and Process Safety Programs
  • Audit, analyze and collate EHS performance data and propose effective improvements
  • Perform facility audits, surveys and inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards, to ensure compliance with applicable regulation process improvement
  • Manage SDS data-ensure safety in material handling
  • Track compliance and managing workers compensation and drug screening programs
  • Proactively meets KPI requirements to reduce exposure and control risks
  • Ensure any hazardous waste-oil hydraulic fluid is disposed of correctly. Lead Safety and Hazard assessment activities including Process Hazard Analysis, Job Safety Analysis
  • Attend training and seminars
  • Track compliance with various Federal, State, and Local environmental requirements
  • Lead Safety Teams and Waste Minimization Team programs to resolve or improve EHS performance
  • Prepare, submit, and document all EPA and Osha requirements up to but not limited to OSHA 300 log, CAA, CWA, RCRA, storm water/wastewater generator as well as Air Emission annual inventory report
  • Oversee all chemical and hazardous waste management, including transportation
  • Support and account for EHS budget, including timely review of EHS related invoices

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Safety, Environmental or associate degree in EHS or equivalent experience
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certifications

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • 1-3 years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 1-3 years in an EHS leadership/management role is ideal
  • Experience at an Automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 supplier is helpful
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, NFPA, and Hazwoper requirements
  • Experience in rick management, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, industrial safety, injury and incident investigations, reporting and auditing and training
  • Successful track record of designing and managing employees’ safety, worker’s compensation and drug screening programs
  • Knowledge and ability to implement process improvements and programs
  • Knowledge of automotive plants and processes/principles, company products, trade terminology and manufacturing
  • Experience in a corporate and/or multi-site manufacturing setting experience
  • Ability to read and interpret training related documents for both office and production environments such as technical data, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to exercise exceptional independent judgment and discretion with the ability to take initiative on assigned tasks without significant supervision, and be successful member of a team
  • Systematic thinking ability and strong liaison and management skills

Technical/ Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft, Power point, Excel, Outlook
  • Proficient in SAP
