About This Position

Position Description:

The Business Analyst will focus on the successful development and execution of data-driven reporting and data analysis. The analyst will gather necessary information, perform data analysis, produce recurring and ad hoc reports, and maintain data and analyses for future use. This role will work both with existing policy and claims data processed into our core databases, as well as new data in the process of being analyzed for consumption, and the development of accruals and estimates from the new and existing data. The analyst will promote a high level of collaboration and teamwork within the IT, finance, compliance, and other business unit teams. The analyst works to understand the business units’ requirements and successfully design reporting solutions to meet those requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify user needs from requests and develop reports and reporting processes to meet those needs.
  • Critically evaluate information from multiple sources and clearly indicate quality and any limitations or gaps in the final analysis.
  • Communicate complex data in comprehensible ways.
  • Design, perform, and implement quality assurance and quality control testing for the reporting produced – ensure that reports produced accurately reflect the source data, and are adequately documented so that they can be reproduced with identical results.
  • Establish reporting routines and process, monitor, and enforce naming and data quality conventions, and timely reporting.
  • Act as a liaison for reporting questions, program or product changes, and communicate both to the stakeholders in an effective manner to ensure continuity and the goals of the change.
  • Act as a team member on projects (e.g. managing user acceptance testing on new systems)
  • Act as a touch point for requests for customization or change to existing reports
  • Perform data reconciliations both of raw client data, client reports, financial reports, and analytical reports to the data stored in the company’s primary systems to ensure that the company data is being consistently reported and distributed.
  • Review QA test cases to ensure proper coverage of application use-cases.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for reporting produced, including preparation of documentation and/or procedural and training manuals for colleagues
  • Work closely with the reporting team and other analysts to ensure consistency of documentation and techniques across the enterprise
  • Assist in special financial and business-related studies and cooperate with other departments in the preparation of analyses.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software. Understanding of systems, databases and reporting technology.
  • Proficient in the English Language —both verbal and written.

  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Experience with the following systems and software:
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Microsoft SharePoint or Teams
  • Familiarity with SQL databases, database structures, and general operation of databases
  • Microsoft Power BI experience is preferred

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems or related area is preferred. Experience and Certifications may be considered as replacement.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in related field.
  • Expert with SQL and Excel and have ability to do lookup’s, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.
  • Familiar with ETL Process and Development.
  • Proficient in the use of analytic tools such as data gathering and analysis, spreadsheets, flow-charting and process diagramming.
  • Excellent communication skills; listening to understand needs, and written communications to produce reports, analysis, and documentation.

  • Proficient in data quality reviews, quality assurance and quality control
