The University of Pittsburgh Athletics Department invites applications for the Assistant Athletic Director, Major Gifts — a key leadership role within the Pitt Athletics development team. This position is responsible for driving philanthropic growth by designing and executing comprehensive major gift strategies that advance the department's mission and long-term priorities.
The Assistant Athletic Director, Major Gifts will manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, building meaningful relationships that inspire transformational giving. This individual will lead the full lifecycle of major gift fundraising — from identification and cultivation to solicitation and stewardship — while collaborating closely with senior leadership to align engagement strategies with institutional goals.
Directs the creation and implementation of strategies that deepen the relationship between all principal-gift level donors, prospects, the University, and UPMC. Manages a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects. Leads team and oversees the active involvement of senior leadership in the implementation and execution of principal gifts strategy and engagement. Manages budgets and evaluates program success.
Essential Functions
•Leads the creation and implementation of strategies that deepen the relationship between all principal-gift level donors, prospects and the University; supports an overall exceptional engagement experience for donors and key leadership volunteers.
•Manages a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects.
•Oversees the active involvement of the Chancellor and senior leadership of the University and UPMC in the implementation and execution of principal gifts strategy and engagement.
•Manages annual operating plans and budgets supporting program priorities and assesses program strengths and weaknesses in relation to objectives.
