About This Position
JOB TITLE: Driver
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
The Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting employees, documents, equipment, supplies, and pathology specimens between company locations and designated external sites in a timely and professional manner. This role supports daily operational needs by ensuring proper handling, tracking, and delivery of materials while maintaining vehicle safety and efficient routing. The Driver must adhere to all safety, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a high level of responsibility, professionalism, and commitment to service excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of driving experience required.
- Experience in a professional driving or courier role preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, Excel, email).
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements; experience handling sensitive medical information or materials preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- Valid Driver’s License (Class E minimum required).
- Clean driving record required.
- CDL preferred (if applicable).
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

- Ability to handle and transport pathology specimens in accordance with company protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of chain-of-custody procedures and proper documentation for specimen transport.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate tracking, labeling verification, and timely delivery of specimens.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations when handling medical materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport employees between company locations, facilities, and external appointments as needed.
- Deliver and pick up documents, medical records, equipment, and supplies between locations.
- Perform pathology specimen pickup and drop-off across multiple locations, ensuring proper handling, tracking, and timely delivery in accordance with company protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and optimize routes to ensure efficient and timely transportation.
- Maintain communication with supervisor regarding schedules, delays, or changes.
- Perform assigned errands and special deliveries as requested by management.
- Ensure all transported items are handled safely and securely.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and deliveries.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle daily to ensure it is clean, safe, and in proper working condition.
- Report any vehicle issues, incidents, or accidents immediately to supervisor.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Assist with loading and unloading items when necessary.
- Work flexible schedules and support operational needs as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
