Schedule Description
The schedule is currently 12 - 8, Monday to Thursday. 8:30 to 4:30 on Fridays. This is being re-evaluated to best suit the needs of the University this semester.
DUTIES

Provides tutorial services on an individual and group basis to students from fundamentals to 4th year (includes students from the Weekend University program). Tutor will review and clarify course assignments, provide assistance on course content, set up, organize and modify a plan for course assignments, develop and assess appropriate learning strategies.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reviews and clarifies course assignments and lecture material with student(s). Discuss options available to complete assignments.
  2. Provides assistance on course content as required; assists in organizing course material in binders.
  3. Sets up, organizes and modifies individualized study timetables during semester.
  4. Oversees the student's activities and reports problems and/or changes to Supervisor.
  5. Assists students in how to find resource material on the Internet and through library systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Grade 12, plus completion of a four year Post-Secondary program


EXPERIENCE

  • One years' related experience


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of the three First Nation groups in the Cariboo Chilcotin


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Classroom environment, sitting for periods of time
  • Working in close proximity with students
The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.
Pay Band
$29.21 - $32.45 ( CUPE Grade 07 (90% - 100%) )
Salary rate
This Position is not subject to a 90% start rate for new Employees.
