SURGERY SCHEDULER

Surgery Scheduler- South GA Surgical Assoc.

Description:

Schedule all surgical procedures

Obtain authorization from insurance company for surgical procedures and/or diagnostic procedures

Coordinate physicians' surgery schedules to ensure efficiency and prevent delays

Explain surgical procedure to the patient

Answer any questions the patient/family may have about diagnostic tests or surgical procedures

Obtain patient signature on needed forms

Schedule pre-op date/time with pre-admit

Obtain any prescriptions needed for prep medications

Ensure all orders, history/physicals, and consents are placed in patient's charts

Handle surgery cancellations

Schedule appointment times for diagnostic tests for patients

Maintain open communication with the OR

Experience/Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Medical Terminology and Secretarial courses preferred

Must have at least one (1) year of experience in a physician office or hospital setting where obtaining authorization and scheduling for surgical procedures is your primary job duty, secretarial duties are utilized
