Maintenance Assistant

The Maintenance Assistant will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, mechanical and other building systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
Plans repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include painting, repairing doors and other building fixtures, minor repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and ground upkeep such as plowing and/or salting the parking lot.
Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
Complete administrative duties, such as filling out forms and reporting maintenance statuses to Manager.
Comply with all safety and health regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prefer 2+ years of experience.
Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools).

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents.
May be required to work outside of normal work hours. May be required to work inside and outside of buildings in various temperatures.

Starting Salary: $20-$25/hour or higher depending on experience.
