Who We Are Looking For:
Reporting to the Communications Director – Americas, the Communications Manager is responsible for creating, implementing and overseeing cross-channel communications plans that support our organization, our projects and our clients. This role works collaboratively across departments to identify goals, project milestones and opportunities for effective communications in all channels, including advertising, website content, public relations, social media and other emerging communications channels.
The best candidate will be self-motivated, comfortable managing competing deadlines, and always strive to include a diverse set of perspectives in their work to ensure our communications, content and storytelling represent our brand identity across the globe.
Our preferred candidate will have prior experience in the AEC industry and an interest in working in a dynamic global design environment with a diverse range of public assembly building types including sports venues, convention centers, and transportation facilities.
Strategic work you’ll focus on:
- Work directly with Market Leaders, Communications Director and agency partners to design and implement communications plans and strategies that leverage the best communication channels and tactics to meet project goals, including advertising, website content, blogging, thought leadership, public relations, social media and emerging tactics.
- Oversee the creation of communications deliverables, ensuring materials meet project goals and meet brand guidelines.
- Contribute to monthly communications measurement reports, reporting on quantitative and qualitative data that shows progress to goals.
- Partner with Communication Director to identify opportunities, gaps and challenges in projects, programs, team and communications operations. Recommend solutions and maintain a growth mindset fueled by entrepreneurial creativity.
- Collaborate with the Communications Director, Global Head of Communications & PR, and Brand Strategy Director to ensure communications resources support priority business objectives.
What your day could consist of:
- Collaborate with Communications Director, Graphic Designers, Copywriters, Market Leaders and agencies on communications, content marketing and creative campaigns.
- Write and edit high-profile communications content for internal and external needs.
- Plan and manage the design, content and production of communications collateral.
- Review various metrics and data – both internal and industry-related – to understand content and audience trends to design more high-impact communications plans.
- Develop and manage editorial calendars to ensure Populous stays on top of key storytelling moments.
- Create and edit content as needed, in collaboration with Copywriters and Graphic Designers, based on your individual background as a writer, editor, producer, journalist, videographer or other creative expertise.
Requirements for success:
- Extensive and proven expertise in communications planning, creative content development, campaign strategy and strategic storytelling.
- Strong ability to collaborate with diverse teams, build networks, and establish credibility to effectively drive projects forward.
- Strong ability to prioritize, knowing when to delegate and when to “dive in” based on deadlines and team capacity.
- Proven organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to meet tight deadlines and independently manage workload.
- Exceptional communication skills, including verbal, technical, and creative writing, alongside proficient proofreading and editing abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver successful results within deadlines.
- Positive, resourceful, and highly adept at problem-solving.
- Passion for fostering a collaborative and cohesive team environment.
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Creative Writing, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in Marketing and Communications, with a preference for 5+ years of marketing/communications experience within the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction industries.
- Proven experience in growing key marketing and communications channels.
