About the Organization Date:
Hui Huliau is a nonprofit Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) and community service organization whose business activities principally benefit Native Hawaiians. As an NHO we operate under U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) regulations and own small businesses that participate in the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program for minority owned companies. Our small businesses provide a variety of contracted services to the U. S. Military, U. S. Civilian agencies, and commercial customers at locations worldwide.

Profits from Hui Huliau's for-profit subsidiaries help sustain important education, social, economic, and cultural preservation programs that serve Native Hawaiians in the Waianae community. The Waianae Coast on the western side of the island of Oahu has the highest per capita percentage of Native Hawaiians in the world and the highest poverty and unemployment rate in the State of Hawaii.

Description:

Job Summary:

The Vice President of Business Development is instrumental in helping grow business through cultivating new opportunities for the sale of Hui Huliau products, services and solutions. Emphasis for this position is on the generation of new business and protecting/growing follow-on business to develop the best position for Hui Huliau.

This position will generally encompass a standard part-time work week spanning Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Some after-hours work may be required from time to time

Duties/Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnership Development

• Identify, establish, and nurture strategic partnerships with companies to drive U.S. Department of War business growth and collaboration across the Indo-Pacific region.

• Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and mutual benefit for all stakeholders.

Market Expansion and Revenue Growth

• Develop and execute business development strategies to expand the organization's presence and influence in the Indo-Pacific market.

• Drive revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, securing contracts, and fostering long-term relationships with key regional clients.

Regional Market Analysis

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of market trends, competitors, and economic factors in the Indo-Pacific region to inform strategic decision-making.

• Leverage insights to position the organization as a leader in collaboration with strategic partners

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with industry leaders and trade organizations to support business objectives.

• Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and trade missions focused on the Indo-Pacific region.

• Foster robust communication channels with U.S. government stakeholders and industry partners to identify opportunities and gain deeper insights into operational needs and requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with internal teams (e.g., BD, Capture, Proposal, Operations, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, and Finance) to align partnership initiatives with organizational capabilities and priorities.

• Coordinate with regional teams (e.g., Hawaii, Guam, Philippines, Taiwan, Australia) to ensure seamless execution of business development plans across the Indo-Pacific.

Business Planning and Reporting

• Cultivate and maintain a pipeline of high-potential opportunities.

• Develop annual business development plans, budgets, and forecasts with a focus on strategic partnerships and regional growth.

• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress, challenges, and opportunities within the Indo-Pacific. Risk Management and Compliance

• Ensure all partnerships and business activities comply with U.S. and international regulations, related trade policies and ethical standards.

• Mitigate risks associated with market entry, geopolitical factors, and partnership execution.

Skills/Abilities:

• Flexibility to assume a workload which frequently necessitates an adjustment of priorities.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) along with organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

• Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, LinkedIn, Deltek GovWin.

• Indo-Pacific and Australia Market knowledge.

• Proven sales track record and ability to build a book of business.

• Relationship building and ability to network are critical skills.

Position Requirements: Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience in sales or related field. Physical Requirements: • Predominantly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office or home office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. • Requires the ability to walk short distances. • Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
