About the Role

As the Senior Construction Administrator at HFG Architecture, you will lead the construction phase of healthcare projects, ensuring that design intent is successfully carried through from documentation to completion. You will serve as the primary point of contact during construction, working closely with contractors, consultants, and internal project teams to address field conditions, interpret construction documents, and support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Construction Leadership:

  • Serve as the primary Construction Administration lead during the construction phase of architectural projects.
  • Support successful project delivery from groundbreaking through project closeout while ensuring design intent is maintained.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams during construction activities.

Construction Documentation Review & Coordination:

  • Review and process submittals, requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and contractor pay applications.
  • Interpret and clarify architectural drawings, specifications, and consultant documentation for contractors and project partners.
  • Coordinate with internal design teams to address design revisions, field conditions, and construction-related challenges.

Code Compliance & Healthcare Standards:

  • Ensure constructed work aligns with applicable building codes, healthcare regulations, and owner requirements.
  • Support project teams in maintaining compliance with healthcare design guidelines and regulatory standards throughout construction.

Site Observations & Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct regular site visits and construction observations to verify compliance with design documents, quality standards, and project requirements.
  • Identify potential issues and collaborate with contractors and consultants to resolve them in a timely and effective manner.
  • Monitor construction progress and support teams in maintaining schedule, budget, and design intent.

Project Coordination & Communication:

  • Work closely with contractors, consultants, and project managers to facilitate collaboration throughout the construction process.
  • Participate in construction meetings, providing insight and technical expertise to support decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment throughout the construction phase.

Documentation & Project Closeout:

  • Assist in maintaining project documentation including field reports, meeting minutes, and issue tracking logs.
  • Support project closeout activities such as punch lists, final documentation, and warranty follow-up.
  • Ensure construction administration documentation is accurate, organized, and consistent with firm standards.

Travel Requirements:

This role includes approximately 20-30% travel for project-related needs, including site visits, client meetings, or industry events.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in architecture or construction with significant construction administration experience.
  • Experience leading construction administration efforts on complex building projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate architectural and consultant construction documents.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and detailing.
  • Experience reviewing and responding to submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage documentation during active construction phases.
  • Healthcare project experience strongly preferred, including hospitals, medical office buildings, clinics, or surgical centers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • Experience working on large or complex healthcare facilities and health systems.
  • Familiarity with AIA contract documents and construction administration procedures.
  • Experience using Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, and construction management software.
  • Understanding of healthcare design guidelines, codes, and regulatory requirements.
