Role Description

The Plumbing Estimator plays a critical role in driving revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for evaluating residential and commercial plumbing opportunities, developing accurate and competitive estimates, and converting opportunities into awarded jobs.

This is a customer-facing, results-driven role that blends technical expertise, sales acumen, and relationship-building to support company growth.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Project Evaluation

  • Conduct on-site assessments for plumbing installations, repairs, remodels, and renovations
  • Accurately estimate labor, materials, equipment, and project timelines
  • Prepare detailed, professional proposals aligned with company pricing standards and target gross margins
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and scope documents to develop accurate bids
  • Create isometric drawings when needed to support project clarity

Sales & Customer Experience

  • Present estimates confidently to customers, clearly explaining scope and value
  • Build strong relationships with residential and commercial clients to increase bid acceptance rates
  • Maintain a high close ratio and contribute directly to revenue growth targets
  • Provide consultative solutions that align with customer needs and budget

Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with operations and field teams to ensure smooth project handoff
  • Communicate job scope, materials, and timelines with project managers and supervisors
  • Partner with purchasing to secure cost-effective materials and maintain profitability
  • Track and manage estimate pipeline, follow-ups, and awarded jobs

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all estimates comply with local plumbing codes and company standards
  • Monitor job performance against estimates to improve future accuracy
  • Follow up with customers post-completion to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities
  • Contribute to process improvements and estimating best practices
Requirements:

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience

  • 3+ years of plumbing estimating experience (commercial and/or residential preferred)
  • Strong hands-on plumbing field experience (service, remodel, or new construction)
  • Master-level plumbing knowledge; state license preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
  • Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to develop accurate takeoffs and cost projections

Sales & Business Acumen

  • Proven ability to close bids and drive revenue growth
  • Strong understanding of pricing strategies and gross margin targets
  • Ability to balance competitiveness with profitability

Communication & Professionlism

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build trust and credibility
  • Professional presence with the ability to represent the company at a high level

Additional Strengths ( Nice to Have)

  • Experience working in a high-growth service company environment
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and pipeline tracking ( Service Titan would be Plus )
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
