Job Summary

Oversee the daily operation of the Maintenance Department to ensure optimal plant performance, safety, and product quality. Achieve targeted downtime, coordinate maintenance activities, and train Nissin and contract employees on equipment operation and maintenance procedures. Maintain all required maintenance and production records, promote continuous improvement, and contribute to cost reduction, safety, and quality initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
  • Assign,monitor, and evaluate daily maintenance tasks to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Analyze, estimate, and prepare for maintenance projects including repair, modification, improvement, and installation of new equipment.
  • Review and approve preventive maintenance inspections, repair logs, and modification records to ensure compliance and readiness for potential audits.
  • Verify all maintenance work is completed to standard and within scheduledtimeframes.
  • Monitor the operation and condition of plant equipment, communicating with Production, QA, and other departmentsregardingperformance or issues.

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and practices; conduct regular safety meetings and training for maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely andin accordance withOSHA and company regulations.
  • Monitor contractors, inspectors, and vendors to ensure adherence to Nissin’s safety and operational policies.

Inventory and Resource Management

  • Overseeusage, and inventory control for parts, tools, and materials.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords of major parts and materials; ensure efficient inventory management.
  • Manage effective allocation of labor and ensure proper shift coverage to meet operational needs.

Reporting and Communication

  • Prepare andsubmitmonthly maintenance reports including major repairs, labor updates, utilities, and project summaries.Use Programs such as Maintenance Software for reports.
  • Maintainaccurateandtimelydocumentation of maintenance activities, safety meetings
  • Communicate effectively withother maintenance employees,management, Production, HR, and QA on maintenance matters, performance issues, or safety concerns.
  • Attend required meetings and relay key information to maintenance teams.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate inpolicymakingand decision processes related to process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Identifyopportunities for operational efficiency, reliability improvement, and equipment optimization.
  • Support special projects such as machine modifications and upgrades.

Employee Development and Supervision

  • Supervise and mentor maintenance employees, providing training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain certification and training programs for regular and temporary employees onmaintenance ofequipment and procedures.
  • Enforce company policies fairly and consistently; recognizestrong performanceand administer discipline whenappropriate.
  • Promote employee retention through engagement, clear communication, and a safe, supportive work environment.
  • Review daily production results, yield, and loss data to support production efficiency.
  • Coordinate outside service work and oversee external contractors.
  • Audit purchase orders, check requests, and ensure proper administrative support.
  • Assistwith maintenance work as needed, including emergency repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of maintenance areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school,or
  • 2yearsof related experience and/or training,oran equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in food manufacturing or industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, and Email; basic PLC knowledge (Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Previoussupervisory experience in food manufacturing or related production environmentis stronglypreferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety, GMPs, HACCP, and OSHA safety standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, and Email; basic PLC knowledge (Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Experience is preferred with welding machines, plasma cutters, milling machines, lathes, drill presses, power and pneumatic tools, multimeters, tachometers, micrometers, forklifts, compressors, chillers, boilers, air systems, and production equipment.



Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to handle tools and equipment.
  • Frequently required to reach, climb, balance, stoop, or kneel.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
  • Occasional exposure to high places, extreme heat, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Loud work environment—hearing protection required.
