This role offers a unique opportunity to lead scientific strategy across complex, multi-account medical communications projects. You will take ownership of end-to-end scientific oversight, ensuring the highest standards of content excellence and regulatory compliance while shaping impactful communication strategies. Acting as the primary scientific voice to clients, you will mentor a team of writers and associates, drive operational efficiency, and contribute to business growth through scientific leadership. This position combines strategic influence, people leadership, and hands-on scientific rigor in a collaborative, remote-capable environment with opportunities for professional development and client-facing impact.
- Lead one or more high-complexity accounts, defining integrated scientific and medical communication strategies, including publication planning and communications tactics.
- Serve as principal scientific advisor for clients, aligning strategy with brand priorities and therapeutic objectives.
- Oversee high-quality content creation and perform detailed scientific reviews for accuracy, compliance, and stylistic consistency across manuscripts, congress materials, training content, and digital assets.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, such as Good Publication Practices, ICMJE guidelines, and PhRMA codes, and independently resolve scientific issues during MLR reviews.
- Provide leadership in client interactions, workshops, speaker trainings, advisory boards, and proposals, collaborating with Client Services on resource planning and forecasting.
- Manage, mentor, and develop 3–5 direct reports, establishing performance goals, structured development plans, and fostering team growth.
- Contribute to operational planning, risk mitigation, and workflow optimization to improve team efficiency and scientific quality.
- Advanced degree (MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD) in a scientific or healthcare-related field preferred; candidates with a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree plus extensive experience will also be considered.
- Approximately 6+ years of experience in medical communications/medical writing, including leadership of multi-account or multi-asset projects.
- At least 2+ years of people management and coaching experience.
- Expertise in scientific writing, editing, data interpretation, and publications standards.
- Strategic thinker with strong client leadership, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Solid understanding of clinical research and regulatory landscape, including MLR submissions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, graphic/image software, and collaboration platforms.
