Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides assessment, treatment, emergency care, and case management of student health conditions as part of the overall Health and Wellness Program in accordance with the Job Corps Federal Regulations, the (PRH) Policy and Requirements Handbook, and federal and state laws related to professional scope of practice with a general emphasis on helping students overcome barriers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts a cursory health evaluation of new students. Includes, but not limiting to:
- Measures and records student vital signs, conducts hearing and vision screening, obtain and test urine, apply, read, and document results of PPD’s.
- Performs phlebotomy procedures and collects specimens as required by National Job Corps Protocol.
- Administers medication, monitors, and follows up to observe students. Reports on adverse reactions to medication to the Health and Wellness Manager.
- Assists with scheduling and follow up of medical appointments on center and community appointments.
- Coordination of Chronic Care Management Plans for students with chronic illnesses
- Serves as Co-Disability Coordinator, managing and providing medical accommodations to students.
- Assists HWD with Applicant File Review
- Supports Healthy Eating Active Lifestyles (HEALS) committee and activities.
- Attends required staff training sessions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- On-call support required.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Active, unrestricted license to practice in state where Center is located.
Preferred: One year nursing experience, plus Job Corps experience desirable.
Knowledge: Sound nursing techniques. Ability to relate effectively to student population. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Good organizational skills. Ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision. Must maintain CPR certification.
