About This Position

Job Summary
- Assistants are responsible for the collection and coordination of patient samples for laboratory testing. Samples include, but are not limited to: venous blood, capillary blood, urine, throat swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs and specimens collected by non-lab personnel. Assistants will also be responsible for performing non-technical, simple laboratory tasks in all sections, such as operating and maintaining the records of basic instruments, centrifuges and dishwashers. Assistants duties also include, but are not limited to: clerical duties such as patient registration, patient test ordering, result correlation, distribution, filing and the collection of drug screens, breath alcohol testing and cross-trained to take patient vital signs. Regulatory Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent knowledge from experience.
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required. Lab assistants are encouraged to obtain a phlebotomy certification.
- Prior lab experience preferred.
- A valid Ohio Drivers License with a good driving record is required, if applicable.
Language Skills
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Must complete simple laboratory tasks in all sections.
