Job Description
Carthage Area Hospital-Emergency Preparedness Coordinator - Full-Time Day Shift 7:30a-4:30p (8-hour shift)- Req 7798
Pay Range: $26.40-$34.31*
Oversees daily operations of emergency preparedness. Assumes the following responsibilities including, but not limited to, maintenance of adequate stock/supplies, evaluation of unit-based and hospital wide drills and exercises, policy and procedure monitoring, and enforcement. Chairs the Environmental Health and Safety Committee and holds quarterly meetings, serves as a member of various hospital committees and investigates all safety events.Reviews and edits all emergency plans in accordance with regulations. Performs environment of care rounds of hospital departments. Performs duties associated with NYS DOH Hospital Preparedness Program grant. In addition, the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator will conduct QA/QI audits, ensure regulatory compliance, and act as a liaison between fire departments, local and state agencies, law enforcement, Fort Drum and the hospital.

EDUCATION:
Required:
-
Previous experience in emergency management
-
Knowledge of and ability to deal with regulatory agencies, i.e., NYS DOH, The Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA
-
Safety, emergency preparedness, risk and quality improvement experience
Preferred:
-
Bachelor’s in Emergency Management or related field
-
Leadership and management experience preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:

Current BLS
Preferred:

Hazmat Certified
-
FEMA Certification
TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Required:

Communicate effectively orally and in writing

Listen and communicate in a respectful manner

Ability to work independently and as a team leader

Strong organizational skills

Use of computer, the internet and audio/video equipment

Conduct small and large group presentations

Ability to write progress reports to inform committees of progress, meeting requirements and goals of the program
