Position Title: Histology Technician

Position Summary: The Histology Technologist (HT) receives, labels, processes and stains tissues and body fluids. Qualifications: Education:

• Associate or technical degree in Laboratory Sciences or Histology required; or grandfathered in with prior ASCP education requirements.

Experience

• Histology related experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Board certified as HT or HTL through ASCP required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
• Prepare and maintain all types of equipment used in processing, embedding, and cutting tissue as well as mounting on and labeling slides and blocks.
• Utilize computer skills that allow for the documentation and retrieval of histology data.
• Responsible for QA and QI activities as required to maintain the highest of standards.
• Assists in all procedures that are required in daily operations of the histology lab to meet all CAP requirements.
• Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
• Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
