Interior Designer Sales Manager

Reports To: VP of Interior Designer Relations
FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt
Up to 75% Travel time required
Location: Miami, Charleston, Houston, West Palm


SUMMARY: The Interior Design Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to grow business within the Interior Design Community. This role focuses on building strong relationships with Interior Designers and Design Firms, identifying new business opportunities, and driving revenue growth. The position collaborates closely with marketing, product development, and senior leadership to strengthen brand presence, expand market reach, and ensure customer needs are effectively met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and execute strategies in conjunction with the VP of Interior Design Relations (VPDR) to strengthen relationships with Interior Designers.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Interior Design Community.
    • Collaborate with senior management to align departmental goals with the overall company strategy.
Sales & Business Development:
    • Identify appropriate new potential business targets within the interior design community both local and national.
    • Strategize with the VPDR on acquiring this new business.
    • Execute the strategy and open the accounts.
    • Accomplish annual sales targets of new account openings.
    • Liaise relevant information from market to local and upper management as relevant.
Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with interior designers and design firms.
    • Visit identified top interior designers in each market every quarter and accomplish set tasks of communication, training, support and forecasting. Report key findings to VP.
    • Expected related and estimated travel to be 75% while remotely working the balance.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for key interior design clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
    • Leverage these relationships for increased client retention, brand building and to seek new opportunities.
    • Support usage of MT Studio (client portal) stimulating engagement through training and support.
Marketing & Promotion:
    • Assist VPDR on Brand Development and consistency through communication standards and creative solutions.
    • Collaborate both internally and externally on marketing and brand development efforts to create targeted campaigns aimed towards interior designers.
    • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility.
Product & Service Feedback:
    • Act as a liaison between interior designers and the product development team, ensuring that feedback is effectively communicated and integrated into product offerings.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and competitors to keep the company’s offerings competitive.
Financial Oversight:
    • Manage budgets related to interior designer relations activities/department.
    • Ensure that business development efforts are cost-effective and generate a positive ROI.
Negotiation & Contracts:
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements with design firms and individual designers with executive team, when needed.
    • Ensure that all contracts meet company standards and legal requirements.
Training & Education:
    • Inform interior designers on new products, services, and technologies offered by the company.
    • Keep the team updated on industry trends and best practices.
Reporting & Analysis:
    • Provide clear communications on designer relationships, business development efforts, and market trends to senior management.
    • Use data and analytics to drive decision-making and strategy adjustments

  • Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Interior Design, Marketing, or related field preferred. Several years of experience in sales, preferably within interior design, furniture, or related industries. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. Experience building and managing relationships with interior designers, architects, or design firms. Strong understanding of the interior design industry and market trends. Experience negotiating contracts and managing client accounts.
  • Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, management, and staff. Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication,
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, photoshop, etc. This role requires proficiency with CRM systems and client engagement platforms.
  • Other Qualifications - Valid driver’s license is required; Ability to travel frequently (up to approximately 75%); Overnight stays may be necessary.

  • Client Engagement and Customer Service – Maintains a strong customer-focused approach by ensuring client expectations are consistently met or exceeded. This includes proactive communication, problem resolution, and providing ongoing support to strengthen relationships and enhance the overall client experience.
  • Market Analysis and Competitive Awareness – Maintains an informed understanding of industry trends, emerging design practices, competitor activities, and evolving client needs. Uses market insights to refine sales strategies, identify opportunities, and maintain the company’s competitive positioning.
  • Collaboration and Cross-Functional Teamwork – Works effectively with internal teams such as marketing, product development, and senior leadership to support brand growth and product alignment. This competency includes sharing customer insights and collaborating to develop solutions that meet market demand.
  • Financial and Budget Management – Manages budgets related to sales activities and designer relationship initiatives. Demonstrates the ability to track financial performance, monitor return on investment, and ensure business development activities remain cost-effective.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills – Communicates clearly and professionally with clients, internal teams, and leadership. This includes delivering persuasive presentations, representing the brand at industry events, and effectively conveying product information and business opportunities.

  • Training and Knowledge Sharing – Supports knowledge transfer by educating designers and internal teams on new products, services, technologies, and industry trends. Promotes continuous learning and ensures stakeholders remain informed and engaged.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position while operating their computer and performing office work when required to complete duties. The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office. They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting. The employee must be able to move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds when needed. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and adjust as necessary.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this Job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate.
