Planes Companies is seeking a dependable and detail‑oriented Installation Technician to support daily installation and reconfiguration projects on a professional client campus located in Downtown Indianapolis. This position is part of a skilled team responsible for delivering high‑quality systems furniture installations (Steelcase) while maintaining safety, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
What You’ll Do- Review work orders at the dispatch counter and fully understand job scope before leaving for the site.
- Assist with daily route planning, provide navigation support, and communicate accurate ETAs to customer contacts.
- Serve as a spotter when vehicles are backing into loading areas and ensure safe maneuvering.
- Maintain a clean, organized truck—removing trash, returning equipment/materials, and ensuring tools are in the correct place.
- Pad‑wrap and secure all cargo safely during transport and at each stop.
- Assist with onsite clean‑up, equipment inventory, and job close‑out tasks.
- Report all accidents, injuries, unsafe behavior, and cargo damage promptly.
- Maintain working knowledge of systems furniture installation processes and best practices.
- Follow company policies and demonstrate our TEAM principles (Trust, Empowerment, Accountability, Mesh).
- Attend required trainings and maintain regular, reliable attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Experience with systems furniture (Steelcase mostly) preferred
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Driver’s License (preferred)
- Clean criminal background (mandatory)
- 100% drug‑free — pre‑ and post‑employment drug screening required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional customer-service approach.
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and problem‑solve effectively.
- Customer‑service driven and team‑oriented.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs unassisted; some items may be bulky or awkward.
- Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing.
- Comfortable working in varying indoor/outdoor temperatures and around dust, dirt, grease, and vehicle fumes.
- Ability to work nights or weekends depending on project needs.
- Able to handle a physically demanding, fast‑paced environment.
