Job Summary: The Repossession Specialist role is tasked with assisting the Asset Manager with actively and aggressively working a portfolio of repossessions, with the main goal of securing equipment into TimePayment’s possession. In addition, this role would participate and facilitate post-recovery efforts and remarket a wide variety of repossessed assets, in a timely manner, for the best possible value.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilize a variety of skip tracing techniques and GPS asset tracking to locate and repossess equipment; and to locate individuals that may be in possession of equipment related to the delinquent account(s).
- Utilize collection and customer service experience to complete repossession phone talk-offs and discussions with customers, with the intention of surrendering the equipment for repossession or submitting payment to our Collections department.
- Place approved repossession accounts with outside equipment recovery firms and work closely with those firms during the repossession process to ensure that all steps are taken to secure the equipment.
- Assigning and coordinating repossession accounts with a Field Site Visit firm, when applicable.
- Remarket a wide variety of displaced assets including titled trucks and trailers and work closely with remarketing/auction firms/dealerships to ensure all repossessed assets are remarketed for the highest possible value, and in a timely manner.
- Keep detailed repossession/remarketing notes on all accounts within our Salesforce workflow.
- Upload and document all relevant forms related to the recovery and sale of the equipment including equipment condition reports, equipment sale invoices, payment receipts, impound notices, voluntary surrender notices, etc. into our internal document archive.
- Focus and contribute to the Asset Management Department goals, KPIs, and performance metrics set by the Asset Manager and Director of Asset Management.
- Prepare equipment sale invoices, bills of sale, and title paperwork (when applicable) as part of the remarketing process.
- Continuously expand Asset Management's Remarketer Database to ensure the department has comprehensive geographic coverage for recovering and remarketing a wide variety of assets.
- Work closely with the legal department in cases where TimePayment is pursuing a Replevin Order.
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively, efficiently, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate professionalism at all times and must possess effective negotiation and communication skills.
- Results-oriented, with a capacity for “outside the box” thinking.
- 2-3 years' experience in a repossession-focused role and familiar with best practices and relevant regulations in the industry.
- Late-stage collections, post-charge off or recovery experience is required
- Prior experience in the equipment leasing or financing industry
- Experience utilizing Salesforce, Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.), TLO, LexisNexis, or other skip tracing platforms
- Repossession title procedure experience is a plus
Hours: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday
Location: Hybrid or in office/Woburn, MA
Education: College associate's degree preferred; or minimum 3 years comparable work experience.
