JOB DESCRIPTION

BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as an Accountant, Sr. Accountant, Technical Accountant or Senior Technical Accountant at our Headquarters in Glen Allen, VA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• This role is responsible for preparing reviewing and analyzing accounting records financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy completeness and conformity to reporting and procedural standards.
• Conduct complex assignments and analysis involving accounting projects and the day-to-day maintenance of a general ledger.
• Identify inconsistencies and problems and works to resolve them.
• Perform appropriate accounting controls.
• Participate in month-end closing quarterly and year-end financial reporting activities.
• Routinely interact with internal and external customers.
• Advise project teams on specific accounting and internal control issues relevant to new products; major business and organizational events; system conversions upgrades and enhancements.
• Provide functional advice or training to less experience accountants.

QUALIFICATIONS

Accountant:

0-2 years experience in accounting, financial planning, finance, public accounting or other related experience for the accountant position.

Sr Accountant:

2-4 years of general accounting experience or 1 year of experience working in public accounting

Working knowledge of U.S. General Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices and procedures
Strong computer skills including Excel
Good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
Good analytical skills
Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Technical Accountant:

5-7 years of general accounting experience or 4+ years of public accounting experience

Broad knowledge of U.S. General Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices and procedures
Excellent computer skills including Excel
Effective communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent analytical skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Sr. Technical Accountant:

At least 7 years' general accounting experience or 5+ years' experience working in public accounting.

Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. General Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices, and procedures.

Excellent computer skills, including Excel.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Excellent analytical skills.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Education

Master (Typically two years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a master's degree.)

Preferred Degree

Accounting, Business, or Finance

Preferred Licenses, Certifications, Qualifications or Standards

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
