This role is a key editorial position within a mission-driven assessment environment, focused on ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of high-stakes educational content. You will help shape and refine assessment materials used across major programs, contributing directly to the quality of student-facing testing experiences. Working closely with test developers, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams, you will ensure all content meets strict editorial and style standards. The environment is collaborative, detail-oriented, and continuously evolving, with a strong emphasis on quality, process improvement, and innovation. You will also engage with modern editorial tools and technologies, including digital platforms and AI-assisted workflows, to enhance efficiency and consistency. - Copyedit and proofread assessment content, test questions, and related materials across digital and print formats to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Apply grammar, punctuation, usage, and established style guidelines, including Chicago Manual of Style and internal standards
- Collaborate with content developers and editorial peers to ensure high-quality, error-free deliverables
- Fact-check content as needed using research and verification methods
- Maintain and contribute to in-house style guides and editorial documentation
- Work within content management and authoring systems to manage and edit materials efficiently
- Leverage digital tools and AI-supported workflows to improve editorial accuracy and efficiency
- Participate in peer review, meetings, and cross-functional discussions to align editorial standards
- Support process improvements, documentation updates, and workflow enhancements
- Contribute to special projects, pilots, and operational initiatives as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking, preferably in publishing, education, or technical content
- Strong command of grammar, syntax, punctuation, and editorial best practices
- Deep familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and ability to apply multiple style guides consistently
- Experience working with content management systems and digital tools (e.g., Adobe, Microsoft Office, Smartsheet or similar platforms)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain editorial decisions clearly
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in team environments
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage version control across complex content sets
- Comfort with emerging technologies and willingness to adopt AI-enabled editorial tools
- Competitive salary range between 56,000 USD and 95,000 USD depending on experience and location
