POSITION TITLE: Assembly Trainer Evenings (Monday to Friday 2:30pm to 11:00pm)

LOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY

HOURLY PAY RANGE: $24.00/hr to $27.00/hr. plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential.

JOB SUMMARY: Assembly trainers ensure personnel are capable and effective at performing assembly processes. They demonstrate how to perform various assembly processes and provide oversight for trainees as they learn to perform these processes. Assembly trainers assess training effectiveness: Ensuring trainees understand the sequence of operations, perform each step correctly, and understand all safety and quality standards. They promote a positive learning environment, trainee engagement, integration with the teams they serve, and effective record keeping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Deliver effective training to both new and existing production team members.
  • Assemble, test, and package medical devices and related products in accordance with documented work instructions and procedures.
  • Work in a cleanroom environment; following contamination control practices to ensure product cleanliness.
  • Provide training when Work Instructions or Procedures are updated.
  • Utilize Training Within Industry (TWI) methods when delivering training.
  • Assign and conduct training, as directed by Production Managers, Supervisors, or Line Leaders
  • Conduct training related to process deviations and reworks.
  • Provide feedback to Supervisors on the performance of trainees.
  • Ensure all production team members are fully trained and competent to perform assigned activities.
  • Provide clarification and enforce all safety and quality procedures while delivering training.
  • Maintain training records accurately and neatly.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • While not conducting training, Assembly trainers must be able to perform as effective Assemblers.
  • Participate in the early stages of projects to develop training based on input from Subject Matter Experts
  • Work with instructional designer to provide input and feedback during work instructions development
  • Identify opportunities for improving the clarity or accuracy of existing work instructions
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 or more years working within one of LSI Solutions® assembly-level workcenters.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Experience conducting on-the-job training (individual or large groups) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • In-depth knowledge of LSI’s assembly-level processes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate instructions to individuals and groups.
  • Motivational and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to adapt training methods in response to the needs of trainee.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with trainees (and others) that results in positive outcomes.
  • Maintain good and cooperative relationships with colleagues: promote strong teamwork.
  • Working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to eight hours per day.
  • Regularly required to work in a cleanroom environment, which requires the use of gowning, wearing various coverings, and adhering to strict cleanliness control practices.
  • Required to perform cleaning and be involved in cleaning related activities.
  • Required to perform or facilitate testing or other functions during non-standard shift (i.e., “off hours”).
  • Frequently required to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 10-20 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, and/or pull items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to periodically bend or kneel and use color vision/depth perception.
  • Ability to work under magnification (including use of microscopes), for extended periods of time.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Regularly required to talk and/or hear.
