Position Summary:
The Development & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the organization’s mission by supporting communications and donor engagement efforts. They will partner on the development team, owning content creation, digital engagement, donor stewardship and administrative support that strengthens our brand and deepens community investment.
Requirements:Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect stories from clients and partners (directly or via program staff) to be used in marketing, via interviews, photos and videos as a basis for content creation in line with ethical storytelling guidelines.
- Plan, write, and produce high quality communications and marketing materials—including newsletters, donor updates, fundraising campaigns, appeals, and event collateral.
- Plan, create and manage content and distribution for email marketing and social media channels and the website; maintain a consistent, mission aligned voice and visual identity. Monitor, respond, and engage with comments and messages to build community relationships.
- Create and update marketing materials for programs, including flyers, signage, and presentations.
- Build out, maintain, and organize our library of photo, video and story assets.
- Assist with annual giving campaigns, including planning, segmentation, list management, and creation of campaign materials.
- Draft, personalize, and send stewardship communications, impact updates, and recognition materials.
- Support donor tours, events, and special engagements.
- Coordinate donor communication touchpoints and assist in relationship building with individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in the Client Relationship Management (CRM) database; document interactions, record contributions, and generate reports, lists, and analytics.
- Assist with grant related tasks such as data gathering, research and reporting.
- Represent the organization professionally at community events as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, English, or a related field preferred, with three (3) years of experience in communications, marketing, fundraising, donor stewardship or nonprofit support roles. Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience accepted in lieu of education.
- Ability to pass background check, including the Washington State Department of Social and Health services background through Background Check Central Unit (BCCU).
- Valid driver’s license required, as well as personally insured vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend engagement events.
Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and visual storytelling skills; ability to craft compelling, donor centered messaging.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience with CRM/donor databases, email marketing and visual design platforms preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort learning new technologies.
- Ability to collaborate across teams, maintain confidentiality, and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and mission driven, with interest in learning fundraising best practices.
- Team player willing to be flexible on small team with diverse duties.
