Job Title: Virtual Platform AdminLocation: Reston, VA, telework will be acceptable after the program's start dateTime Type: Full-timeClearance Requirement: Secret / IT-I Critical Sensitive (Tier 5/SSBI)/ High RiskEmployee Type: W2 or 1099Citizenship: US Citizen, no Dual Citizenship The Virtual Platform Administrator (VPA) provides hands-on administration, maintenance, and optimization of virtualized infrastructure within the DLA CCIS program. Install, configure, monitor, and maintain virtualization platforms and related compute/storage/network components. Manage VMs, containers, clusters, and resource pools to meet performance, reliability, and security objectives in alignment with CCIS requirements. Collaborate with cloud engineers, security, and accreditation teams to support RMF/NIST controls, A&A activities, and continuous monitoring. Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery (DR), and high-availability (HA) strategies for virtual environments. Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management of virtual resources. Maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), standard imagery, templates, and documentation for platform operations.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
7 years of progressive virtualization operations and maintenance experience. Demonstrated hands-on experience with enterprise virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or other DoD-acceptable hypervisors) in a DoD or similarly regulated environment. Strong understanding of networking basics, storage concepts, and security controls as they pertain to virtualized environments. Experience supporting DoD missions and participating in C&A activities is highly desirable.
Certifications (Must-have and near-term attainment):
DoD IAT II certification. Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE) or Professional Cloud Architect (PCA). Plus one of the following for cloud operations or administration:o AWS: Cloud Practitioner, or Solutions Architect Associate, or SysOps Administrator, or Services Architect Professional (or other listed AWS certs as acceptable).o Azure: Administrator (AZ-104) or Architect (AZ-303/AZ-304) or Security (SC-900/SC-200/SC-300) depending on availability and role fit.o OCI Cloud Ops (OCI) or Red Hat: RHCSA or RHCE. At least one VPA must also hold a CCNA certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
