Job Overview:

The Echocardiographer performs echocardiograms with doppler and color flow analysis to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to determine each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Graduate from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology
• RDCS/RCS certification
• BLS through the American Heart Association
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Scheduling Requirements:

• Eve
• FT
• Weekend/Holiday requirements

Essential Functions:

• Performs echocardiograms with Doppler, color flow analysis, and strain to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease
• Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to determine each patient's age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment
• Assists the nurse and physician in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms
• Administers Definity when necessary to obtain high-quality images
• Performs echocardiograms on both hospital patients and outpatients, which includes offsite locations in the area
