As a Systems Engineer at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), you will contribute to the development, integration, and sustainment of enterprise systems supporting USAREUR-AF operations. You will work across mission systems, cloud platforms, and enterprise data environments to enable secure, reliable, and scalable system capabilities that drive mission success.

As a Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the design, integration, and lifecycle management of mission and enterprise systems across the USAREUR-AF theater. You will assist in translating operational requirements into technical system solutions while ensuring interoperability, reliability, and security across platforms.
You will support system integration, workflow automation, and data exchange across mission and business systems, leveraging platforms such as Maven Smart Systems (MSS) and other Army enterprise technologies. Your work will help ensure that systems are properly integrated, documented, and compliant with Department of Defense cybersecurity and governance requirements.

The likely salary range for this position is $114,750 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.

How a Systems Engineer will make an impact
- Support the design and implementation of integrated system solutions across USAREUR-AF mission and enterprise environments.
- Assist in converting mission command requirements into technical system architectures and workflows in support of USAREUR-AF operational environments.
- Develop, refine, and manage workflows within Maven Smart Systems (MSS) and other enterprise platforms to enable automated system processes.
- Troubleshoot and maintain existing data and automation pipelines across all enclaves in support of Mission Systems directly related to Maven Smart Systems (MSS) integration.
- Support system integration efforts between mission command systems and external partner platforms.
- Assist with implementing automation and orchestration solutions using low-code / no-code platforms such as Apache NiFi or similar workflow tools.
- Document system interfaces, APIs, data exchange mechanisms, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support interoperability and operational transparency across all USAREUR-AF environments.
- Collaborate with engineers, system owners, and operational stakeholders to define system requirements and ensure technical alignment with mission objectives.
- Support lifecycle engineering activities including system design, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
- Participate in troubleshooting system integration challenges and resolving operational issues.
- Support compliance with Army and DoD cybersecurity frameworks, including RMF requirements and secure system configurations.
- Participate in working groups and engineering reviews focused on Theater enterprise system integration and modernization.
- Support configuration management, documentation, and system baseline tracking activities.
What You'll Need to Succeed (Required)
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Required Experience: Systems Engineering & Integration -5 years of experience supporting systems engineering, system integration, or enterprise platform development within government or defense environments. Application Development - -3 years of experience with Java or Python development supporting enterprise applications, automation workflows, or integration services. Cloud Platforms - 2-3 years of experience working with data sets and services within cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including system integration and automation workflows. Enterprise Platforms - Experience supporting platforms such as Maven Smart Systems (MSS) or other Army enterprise data and analytics environments.
- Required Technical Skills: Systems Integration & Engineering - Experience supporting system integration efforts across distributed environments including mission systems, enterprise platforms, and cloud services. Experience working with data formats and standards including JSON, XML, XSD, CSV, GeoJSON, and KML. Workflow Automation Platforms- Experience implementing or supporting automation and orchestration workflows using tools such as Apache NiFi or other low-code / no-code integration platforms. Application Development - 2-3 years of experience developing applications or services using Java, Python, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript; familiarity with build and dependency management using Apache Maven or Gradle. System Documentation & Architecture - Experience documenting system architectures, workflows, APIs, and technical interfaces to support integration and operational transparency. Cloud Integration - Experience establishing secure connections and integrating data and applications across cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Source Control & DevOps - Experience working with Git repositories and collaborative development workflows; familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI/CD processes is desirable. Data Process Mapping Proficiency with process mapping tools (e.g., Microsoft Visio or BPMN tools) to document system workflows and integration points. API Documentation & Data Sharing - Experience documenting APIs, integration patterns, and data sharing agreements across systems. Cross-Domain Awareness - Basic understanding of Cross-Domain Solutions (CDS) and secure data transfer mechanisms between classified and unclassified environments. Collaboration & Governance - Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders including system engineers, cybersecurity teams, and operational users to support system integration and mission requirements.
- Required Skills and Experience: Army Enterprise Platforms & Interoperability1-2 years of experience working with Army enterprise platforms such as Maven Smart Systems (MSS), Army Vantage, or Army Intelligence Data Platform (AIDP), with an understanding of operational and business system interoperability. Understanding of Joint and Army C4I systems and interfaces such as TAK, GCCS-J, GCCS-A, CPCE, SitaWare. Knowledge of geospatial data concepts including imagery, overlays, and related operational data platforms. Data & System Governance Frameworks - Familiarity with governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and Army / DoD data policies, with 3-5 years of experience supporting compliance, system documentation, Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), and governance practices. Cloud System Integration - 2-3 years of experience integrating systems and services within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Communication & Collaboration - Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, data stewards, system owners, and leadership to define requirements and resolve integration challenges. Technical Documentation - Strong experience documenting system architectures, workflows, APIs, and integration points to support operational visibility and system maintainability. Team Environment - Excels in fast-paced, collaborative environments with the ability to adapt to evolving priorities and deliver high-quality technical solutions under tight deadlines.
- Security Clearance Level: Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret.
- Certifications: Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CISM); AWS Certified Data Analytics; Microsoft Certified Azure Data Associate; Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate; Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP); Must obtain ITIL v4 Foundations certification within 90 days of employment if not already certified.; DevOps or cloud-related certifications are considered a plus.
