About This Position

Cardiac Rehabilitation RN

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing comprehensive cardiac rehabilitative services to patients referred to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and Primary/Secondary Cardiac Disease Prevention Programs.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the KRMC mission, vision, values and goals and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

3. *Performs daily Quality Checks (QC) per department protocols and policy.

4. *Applies telemetry monitor per protocol and interprets appropriate rhythm.

5. *Develops exercise programs to improve participant strength, flexibility, endurance, or circulatory functioning in accordance with exercise standards, regulatory requirements, and credentialing requirements.

6. *Completes/updates individual treatment plans per CMS guidelines and adjusts plan of care as per physician.

7. *Demonstrates correct use of exercise equipment and/or performance of exercise routines.

8. Explains exercise program or physiological testing procedures to participants.

9. -Interprets exercise program participant data to evaluate progress or identify needed program changes.

10. Calculates MET level and THR for each participant and advances as appropriate.

11. *Demonstrate knowledge of basic ECG and rhythms and be able to interpret, and adjust, exercise session accordingly.

12. *Monitors blood pressure, heart rate, ECG rhythm and understands appropriate response to exercise.

13. *Responsible for the care and safety of patients in cardiac rehabilitation.

14. *Provides clinical oversight of exercise for participants at all risk levels.

15. *Educates cardiac rehabilitation participants or community groups regarding exercise or fitness topics.

16. Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.

17. *Understands and practices proper use of all equipment.

18. Provides emergency or appropriate level of medical care to participants with symptoms or signs of physical distress.

19. *Interacts professionally with patient, family, co-workers, and physicians.

20. *Documents appropriately in telemetry monitor system and can troubleshoot problems, concerns that arise.

21. Communicates to physician/provider any patient concerns and issues and adjusts plan of care appropriately.

22. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

23. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

24. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program required. Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Cardiac rehab experience preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience required. One (1) year of experience working with cardiac patients on coronary care or telemetry unit preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.

ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.
