About the role
SMT Corp. – United States & United Kingdom Operations
- SMT Corp. is seeking an experienced Quality Management Representative (QMR) / Compliance Manager to lead and maintain our global quality and compliance systems across our U.S. and U.K. operations. This role is critical to ensuring adherence to industry, regulatory, and customer-specific requirements within the aerospace, defense, and electronic component sectors.
- The QMR / Compliance Manager will serve as the organization’s authority on quality systems, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness—ensuring that SMT maintains its certifications, passes customer audits, and operates in full compliance with applicable standards and corporate policies.
What you'll do
Quality Management Systems & Certifications
- Maintain and continuously improve SMT’s Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure compliance with and certification to standards including:
- AS6171, AS6081, AS9120
- ISO 9001 / ISO 9000 family
- ISO/IEC 17025
- DLA QTSL, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750
- Oversee documentation, procedures, and internal controls required to sustain certifications
- Serve as the primary point of contact for certification bodies and external auditors
Regulatory & Corporate Compliance
- Lead compliance initiatives including CMMC 2.0 and other regulatory frameworks
- Ensure compliance with other regulatory requirements and standards bodies such as ITAR, JOSCAR, GIDEP, and ERAI
- Develop, implement, and maintain corporate policies related to:
- Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
- Corporate governance and compliance
- E-waste and recycling standards
- Ensure company-wide adherence to legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements
Audit Leadership (Critical Function)
- Prepare for, manage, and lead customer audits, focused on defense prime contractors
- Oversee internal audit programs and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Ensure audit readiness across:
- Sourcing and supply chain processes
- Corporate systems and controls
- Laboratory testing and authentication processes
- Act as the primary liaison during on-site audits
- Act as customer and auditor POC
Training & Documentation
- Ensure employees are properly trained and that training records are accurate, current, and audit-ready
- Maintain compliance documentation, records, and quality manuals
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the organization
Global Oversight
- Provide quality and compliance leadership across SMT’s U.S. and U.K. sites
- Standardize processes and ensure alignment across locations
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, Business, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in quality management, compliance, or auditing within:
- Aerospace, defense, or electronic components industries
- Strong working knowledge of:
- AS standards (AS6171, AS6081, AS9120)
- ISO 9001 / QMS frameworks
- DLA and MIL-STD requirements
- Corporate Governance
- Experience leading and supporting customers and certification audits
- Demonstrated ability to manage compliance programs across multiple sites
Preferred
- Experience working for or with major defense contractors (e.g., Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing)
- Background in audit, supplier quality, or regulatory compliance roles
- Familiarity with CMMC 2.0 (U.S.) and Cyber Essentials (U.K.) or cybersecurity compliance frameworks
- Certifications such as
- Certified Quality Manager (CQM)
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
- Lead Auditor (ISO/AS)

***This position will be directly leading CMMC and need to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) they must qualify as a "US Person" and must be able to prove that they are a U.S. citizen or green card holder.***
The pay range for this role is:
110,000 - 130,000 USD per year(Sandy Hook)
