Financial Aid Coordinator - Join Lehigh University's Admissions Team

Make a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys as a Financial Aid Coordinator at Lehigh University. This full-time, nonexempt position offers the opportunity to support families during critical financial aid decisions while working for one of Pennsylvania's premier educational institutions.

About the Opportunity

You'll provide administrative and clerical support to the Office of Financial Aid and Assistant Vice Provost of Financial Services and Director of Financial Aid. As an Enrollment Support Coordinator team member, you'll deliver superior customer service to students and families navigating admissions and financial aid processes.

Position Number: S79290

This position is a Grade: 7 - 37.5 with an approximate salary range of $37,190-$44,640 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary liaison for the Financial Aid Office, providing professional, multi-channel support to students and families by interpreting complex federal and institutional policies alongside admissions and billing processes.
  • Partners effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve inquiries, escalating issues when necessary and ensuring all interactions promote an equitable, inclusive, and service-oriented environment.
  • Manages office logistics and supply procurement while maintaining the Financial Aid Coordinator manual and recommending process improvements to ensure an equitable, efficient, and well-documented workflow.
  • Provides comprehensive administrative assistance to leadership and counseling staff, including complex calendar management, meeting coordination, and the preparation of petitions for the Undergraduate Financial Aid committee.
  • Manages departmental fiscal operations by reconciling budgets, tracking OneCard transactions, processing vendor payments, and preparing documentation for financial audits to ensure compliance and budgetary integrity.
  • Coordinates office personnel processes such as new hire documentation and payroll forms, while overseeing all logistical elements for Financial Aid events, including venue booking, catering, and materials.
  • Guides students through summer and winter study abroad costs and financing options via individual consultations and the creation of specialized budgeting tools, guides, and worksheets.
  • Manages the technical administration of travel grants and budgets in Banner, coordinates cash advances for transportation, and serves as the primary liaison between the Financial Aid, Bursar, and Study Abroad offices to streamline student funding.
  • Manages the full lifecycle of work-study staff by recruiting, hiring, and onboarding students in alignment with federal and institutional regulations, including the development of job descriptions and comprehensive training manuals.
  • Provides daily oversight and performance coaching to ensure operational accuracy and high customer service standards, while maintaining strict confidentiality in the processing of student payroll and records.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One to three years of related work experience
  • Customer service experience required
  • Financial Aid experience highly preferred
  • Previous experience working on a team preferred
  • Ability to multitask and work in high demand/high stress environment necessary
