Basic Responsibilities:
Experienced oil and gas Landman responsible for the interpretation, administration, and active management of the Company’s mineral assets and leasehold interests. This role owns the determination of what rights are held, what obligations exist, and what actions must be taken to protect and advance the Company’s mineral position. The Mineral Landman performs mineral title research, manages lease obligations and expirations, conducts title curative, and leads external interactions with operators and industry partners. The position works closely with mineral management, lease and mineral analysts, GIS, and accounting to ensure decisions are accurately documented and executed across the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret mineral title, oil and gas leases, and related agreements to determine ownership, leasehold status, contractual rights, and development obligations
- Perform mineral title research and title curative, including preparation of runsheets and ownership reports, and coordination with operators, mineral owners, brokers, and third parties to resolve ownership defects
- Track and manage oil and gas lease expirations, pooling activity, and post-primary-term conditions, including audits to determine whether lands or depths have terminated or Pugh’d out
- Lead or participate in lease negotiations and related agreements, and communicate outcomes internally
- Serve as the primary external point of contact for operators and land brokers regarding lease status, ownership interpretation, curative matters, and development activity
- Coordinate with internal GIS, analysts, and land administration to ensure ownership decisions and executed agreements are accurately reflected in internal systems and mapping platforms
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
5–10 years of experience in oil and gas land management or mineral title work
Strong oral and written communication and negotiation skills, and confidence communicating with operators, mineral owners, brokers, and land professionals
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business, or related field
- Registered Professional Landman (RPL), or Certified Professional Landman (CPL) designation from the AAPL
- Permian Basin experience
