About This Position

SUMMARY:

The Perioperative Patient Care Technician supports perioperative services by preparing anesthesia equipment and supplies, assisting with patient care activities, maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment, and ensuring appropriate stocking and readiness of supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  2. Maintain inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts, emergency airway carts, and the anesthesia supply areas.
  3. Prepare anesthesia supplies and anesthesia equipment.
  4. Assist in transporting patients and equipment as needed.
  5. Assist perioperative team within scope.
  6. Maintain clean and safe perioperative environment
  7. Support room setup and turnover
  8. Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities.
  9. Support patient care for the population served.
  10. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attend meetings and trainings.

Participate in quality and safety initiatives.

Other duties assigned from time to time based on department needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or GED required
  2. Basic computer skills
  3. Knowledge of sterile technique preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  2. Certified anesthesia technician preferred

AGE OF POPULATION SERVED:

Newborn  Infant/Pediatric  Adolescent  Adult  Geriatric  All X No Patient Care

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Physically demanding, high-stress environment
  2. Exposure to blood and body fluids, sharps, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
  3. Full range of body motion including handling and lifting equipment
  4. Sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time
  5. Lifting, moving, and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds
  6. Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
