Freedom Property Investors is looking for a creative, fast-thinking journalist with experience in writing scripts for news-style content who can make global and local current affairs clear, engaging, and shareable for YouTube audiences.
You’ll research, pitch, and write scripts, turning breaking news and major economic, policy, and property developments into compelling, teleprompter-ready content. You’ll research, pitch, and write scripts, turning breaking news and major economic, policy, and property developments into compelling, teleprompter-ready content. Your work will help Australians understand what’s happening in the world and why it matters locally, with a strong focus on accuracy, depth, and real-world impact. Key Responsibilities:
Research & Monitor News
- Keep up with global events and their implications for Australia, with a strong focus on economic trends, property markets, government policy, and major global developments.
- Proactively track Australian economic updates, housing market movements, policy changes, and major announcements.
- Analyse multiple high-quality sources to understand the full picture behind headlines and identify what is truly significant.
- Determine which stories are most relevant and impactful for daily coverage, not just what is trending.
- Research daily topics and generate at least three strong, well-justified story ideas every day for the team to review.
Pitch & Develop Stories
- Identify high-impact, timely stories that are significant enough to educate and influence audience understanding.
- Craft strong angles that clearly explain what’s happening, why it matters, and what it means for Australians.
- Combine multiple data sources, reports, and viewpoints into a single cohesive narrative.
Scriptwriting & Video Production
- Write highly engaging, research-driven scripts that are YouTube-ready, clear, and compelling.
- Produce a minimum of 2 high-quality scripts per day, each designed for 15 to 20 minute videos.
- Ensure scripts are backed by credible data, statistics, and verifiable sources that can be cross-checked.
- Deliver scripts that are engaging, emphatic, and structured for retention, while maintaining editorial credibility.
- Translate complex economic, policy, and global developments into clear, impactful storytelling for a general audience.
- Adapt stories for digital formats, including shorts, clips, explainers, and other audience-friendly formats.
- Work with editors, researchers, and management to polish scripts and maximize engagement.
- Continuously improve content based on analytics, feedback, and audience response.

Requirements:
- 3-5 years in journalism, scriptwriting, research, or digital content creation (experience in news-style or current affairs content highly valued)
- Proven ability to write long-form, spoken-word scripts (15–20 minutes)
- Exceptional research skills with the ability to synthesize multiple credible sources into a single, well-supported narrative
- Strong understanding of economics, property, policy, or current affairs is highly desirable
- Ability to work at pace while maintaining high accuracy and data integrity
- Comfortable producing high-volume, high-quality output under daily deadlines
Preferred:
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.
- Experience covering international and Australian current affairs.
- Understanding of YouTube storytelling, retention techniques, and social media trends.
- Awareness of local cultural, political, and social conversations in Australia.
