This role is an opportunity to build and scale a modern data platform that empowers analytics, product, and engineering teams to make data-driven decisions. You will design, develop, and maintain reliable data pipelines, create optimized BigQuery models, and implement best practices in dbt for ELT transformations. Working across teams, you will help establish standards, improve developer experience, and ensure trusted metrics for business intelligence and experimentation. The role requires balancing hands-on technical development with system-level thinking to support scalable, cost-efficient, and observable data workflows. You will contribute to a fast-growing, innovative environment where your work directly impacts the quality and usability of enterprise-wide data.
- Build, evolve, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows using Python and dbt
- Develop and optimize BigQuery models to support analytics, product insights, and experimentation
- Establish standards and guardrails for dbt development, including testing, documentation, code reviews, and source freshness
- Collaborate with Analytics, Finance, and Product teams to deliver trusted metrics, dashboards, and analytics-ready datasets
- Improve the developer experience for data workflows, including CI/CD, automated checks, permissions, and deployment patterns
- Ensure data quality, reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency across pipelines and BigQuery
- Integrate data workflows with backend services and APIs, contributing to the evolution of the overall data platform
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on data platforms
- Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency in SQL for analytical data modeling
- Hands-on experience with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses
- Production experience with dbt, including model building, versioning, and testing
- Experience building or improving infrastructure for data workflows (reliability, observability, CI/CD, environments, permissions)
- Solid software engineering fundamentals: testing, version control, code reviews
- Familiarity with GCP services such as Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, or Composer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Looker (LookML, semantic modeling, dashboards)
- Experience gathering requirements from Product and translating them into data solutions
- Exposure to streaming or event-based architectures
- Familiarity with Ruby or Ruby on Rails
