The Job:
We are seeking a meticulous Banquet Captain to supervise and manage banquet events for our property. As the Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for managing the staff schedule, ensuring that banquet operations run smoothly, and prioritizing the comfort and safety of our guests. As a Banquet Captain you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with guests from all over the world. Our Banquet Captains proudly showcase our meeting and event spaces and food & beverage offerings through events ranging from corporate meetings to weddings and social celebrations. The Banquet Captain is a highly visible role in which you directly impact the guest experience and create memories that will last a lifetime through exceptional service and execution.
You:
To be successful in this position, we're looking for an amazing people connector, who thrives on creating experiences and problem solving. This role as Banquet Captain requires skills such as organization, attention to detail, reliability and a desire to take care of others.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests upon arrival and assist with seating arrangements
- Set up and manage staff schedules and shifts
- Oversee event setup, service, and breakdown
- Run the floor and coordinate food and beverage service, liaising with kitchen and service staff
- Monitor inventory of supplies, equipment, and furniture
- Read and execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) independently and with minimal supervision
- Attend to guest requests, questions, and concerns while remaining calm and professional
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces and facilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:- Excellent leadership abilities and the ability to manage many staff members
- Great time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to deliver exceptional guest service, even in high pressure situations
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards
- Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, irregular shifts, holidays, and extended shifts as business levels require
- Maintain a current Food Handler Card
- Maintain a valid California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to push and pull carts, tables, and other banquet equipment
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours or more
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and twisting
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures
- Previous Banquet Captain experience
- Degree in Hospitality Management or related field
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and presentation
- Basic bartending and drink preparation knowledge
- Experience operating point of sale systems
