About This Position
The Food Rescue Truck Driver assists in executing the food rescue program to feed clients at One80 Place. Position includes driving to various locations (ex. grocery stores) that donate food and picking up donated product. Upon returning to One80 Place, the driver will unload the truck, sort through donated product for ideal placement in the walk-in cooler, kitchen, donation center, etc.
This is a part time, weekend position. Typical hours will be Saturday and Sunday, 8AM - 12PM. Some weekday fill in shifts may be needed, scheduled in advance.
Proof of a safe driving record is mandatory. One80 Place is a drug free work environment.
STATUS: Part time, Non-Exempt
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Coordinate food rescue activities including timely arrival at pick-up location, proper placement in truck, sorting of food as needed, unloading of truck, proper placement of rescued food in walk-in cooler, kitchen, donation center, etc.
- Serve as the primary and/or secondary contact for food donors.
- Report and coordinate maintenance of the Food Rescue Truck with appropriate vendor.
- Work with the Community Kitchen Director to ensure all food donations are sorted, organized and stored each day.
- Work with Community Kitchen Director to ensure adherence to general safety and security procedures as well as shelter rules, guidelines and policies.
- Actively participate as a member of the kitchen team as needed (cleaning, taking out trash, breaking down boxes, assisting donors, etc.)
- Play an active role in the upkeep, rotation and cleanliness of the freezer and walk-in cooler.
- Assist kitchen team in being "inspection ready" at all times (Veterans Administration inspection, DHEC inspection, etc.)
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
- Experience managing vehicle from site to site, then returning to One80 Place. Experience driving a box truck preferred.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to successfully complete basic driver safety training.
- Ability to relate effectively individuals experiencing homelessness.
