Role Overview
We are seeking a Commissioning (Cx) Building Manager to support a large-scale, mission-critical data center project. This individual will be responsible for leading commissioning activities at the building level, ensuring all systems are installed, tested, and handed over in accordance with project requirements and operational standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role working closely with the Owner, General Contractor, trade partners, and commissioning teams to drive execution, coordination, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead building-level commissioning activities across all MEP systems (electrical, mechanical, controls)
- Coordinate with GC, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure systems are installed and tested per design and specifications
- Oversee execution of:
- Pre-functional testing (PFTs)
- Functional performance testing (FPTs)
- Integrated systems testing (IST)
- Drive commissioning schedule and ensure alignment with construction milestones
- Identify and track deficiencies, issues, and risk items, ensuring timely resolution
- Support energization planning and execution
- Lead or participate in daily/weekly coordination meetings related to commissioning activities
- Ensure proper documentation and turnover packages are completed (Cx reports, checklists, test results, etc.)
- Work cross-functionally with QA/QC teams to ensure quality standards are met
- 8–15+ years of experience in commissioning, construction, or MEP systems
- Strong experience supporting mission-critical or data center projects (Google, Meta, Microsoft, AWS, etc. highly preferred)
- Proven experience leading commissioning efforts at a building or system level
- Deep understanding of:
- Electrical distribution systems (UPS, switchgear, generators)
- Mechanical systems (chillers, CRAHs, cooling systems)
- Building controls / BMS systems
- Experience with commissioning tools such as CxAlloy, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar
- Strong leadership and communication skills able to coordinate across multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environments
- Comfortable working onsite and driving field execution
