About the Role:
The Grandkids Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in supporting the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. This position focuses on assisting with daily classroom activities, facilitating learning through play, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children under care. The assistant teacher will collaborate closely with the teaching team to implement lesson plans and adapt activities to meet the developmental needs of each child. Additionally, this role involves engaging with children to foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth while maintaining open communication with parents and guardians. Ultimately, the Grandkids Assistant Teacher contributes to a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting.
- Basic knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education practices.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet state childcare regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Experience with curriculum development or classroom management.
- Familiarity with inclusive education practices and working with children with diverse needs.
- Bilingual abilities or proficiency in a second language.
Responsibilities:
- Support the lead teacher in planning and executing age-appropriate educational activities and lessons.
- Supervise and engage with children during classroom activities, playtime, and outdoor recess to ensure safety and participation.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Observe and document children's progress and behavior to provide feedback to the lead teacher and parents.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff to support each child's individual needs and development.
Skills:
The required skills such as effective communication and knowledge of child development are essential for daily interactions with children, parents, and colleagues, ensuring clear understanding and support. Organizational skills help maintain a structured and safe classroom environment, while observational skills enable the assistant teacher to monitor children's progress and adapt activities accordingly.
