Office Assistant - HMC Specialties at Holyoke Medical Center – Holyoke, Massachusetts

Valley Health Systems, Inc., the parent company of Holyoke Medical Center, provides a broad range of physician services in offices conveniently located throughout Western Massachusetts.

Our Gastroenterology Physician Practice is seeking an experienced Office Assistant to coordinate and carry out all administrative functions for the office, including, but not limited to:

• Providing administrative support to physicians/providers
• Greeting patients
• Checking for updated demographic and insurance information
• Check out and collect an encounter form, co-pays and any additional appropriate fees.
• Scheduling follow-up appointments
• Accurately entering outpatient orders into the Medical Center's Order Entry System.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Graduate

Experience: Experience in referral & authorization management; processing incoming and outgoing referrals, verifying insurance requirements and obtaining prior authorizations;experience working with third party payers and working knowledge of ICD-9 and HCPC coding preferred; two years of experience in a physician's office or similar environment preferred;

Skills & Ability: Strong coordination and communication skills, ability to work with surgery schedulers, nurse navigators, providers and technical staff; knowledge of workflows; entering and updating referrals at EMR in an ambulatory setting; strong customer service skills and willingness to go above and beyond; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
