About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
The Hotel Maintenance Tech Lead undertakes the responsibility of preserving the building's overall operational condition and functionality, overseeing daily maintenance for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This hands-on role prioritizes work orders and preventive maintenance, ensures safety and regulatory compliance to protect our owners, asset, staff and guests, and partners with hotel departments to minimize downtime and deliver an excellent guest experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report to the Chief Engineer/Maintenance Manager.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Inspect the property to identify current and potential maintenance needs.
- Perform manual repairs as needed (e.g., door locks, window fixtures/windows, thermostats, PTACs, public area fixtures, and amenities).
- Applying working knowledge of carpentry, painting, drywall, and carpet repairs and perform general upkeep as directed (e.g., landscaping, caulking, painting).
- Address maintenance issues, complaints, and work orders promptly; serve as escalation point for complex issues, as needed.
- Support F&B with equipment needs.
- Partner with Housekeeping to ensure in-room equipment functions properly and is included in preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with Front Office and Housekeeping on OOO rooms and VIP priorities.
- Execute ongoing guest room preventive maintenance programs.
- Assist with the training, coaching and mentoring of the maintenance team.
- Support renovations, capital projects, and equipment installs with minimal guest impact.
- Work a flexible schedule, covering various shifts and assisting with call-off coverage.
- Follow all company standards, conduct policies, and procedures, with particular emphasis on health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Follow the company's employee handbook, rules, and regulations.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer/Maintenance Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma and 4+ years of building maintenance experience (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical) or any equivalent combination of education and experience; hotel experience preferred.
- Proficiency with PM programs and basic BAS/BMS; ability to read blueprints/wiring diagrams.
- Certifications a plus: EPA 608, HVAC/R, CPO, boiler, OSHA 10/30, fire/life-safety.

- Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance with OSHA, fire/life safety, brand standards, etc.

- Ability to collaborate cross departmentally.
- Ability to use of CMMS, mobile devices, radios, and diagnostic tools; emphasis on documentation and compliance.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays and on-call.

- Fast paced hospitality setting with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
- Mix of front-of-house (guest areas) and back-of-house (mechanical rooms, service corridors, etc.)
- Varied conditions: Hot/cold environments, roofs, heights, basements, confined spaces, and outdoor areas.
- Regular exposure to noise, dust, cleaning chemicals, and equipment vibrations (with required PPE).
- Stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity for tools and small components.
