Position Summary
The Senior Accountant directs staff and provides hands-on accounting and treasury support to ensure all financial transactions are processed accurately and on time, monthly financial statements are prepared in accordance with company policies and GAAP, and all financial records, reports, analyses, and reconciliations are maintained on a current basis. This role reports directly to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities
General Accounting and Financial Reporting
Maintain accurate and timely accounting records for Van’s Aircraft.
Facilitate month-end closing procedures, post all necessary entries to the general ledger, and prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
Review daily cash receipts and disbursements to ensure they are properly recorded and that balances reconcile to bank statements.
Process additions, disposals, and record depreciation and amortization activity for fixed assets.
Maintain accounting files, records, and reports in an organized manner for easy access, retention, and retrieval.
Provide professional and technical support to the CFO for financial compliance and GAAP adherence.
Assist the CFO in providing monthly reports and analyses required or requested by management or third parties.

Accounts Payable, Receivable, and Inventory
Manage and provide support for accounts receivable, credit and collections, accounts payable, and inventory functions.

Treasury
Support banking relationships and manage reporting in accordance with banking agreements.
Manage investment accounts in accordance with company objectives and investment policy.
Oversee cash distributions and payments.
Manage and facilitate cash forecasting on at least a monthly basis.

Budgeting and Planning
Assist the budgeting process for the company.
Work with the CFO to oversee implementation and monitor adherence to approved corporate budgets.
Provide analysis and support to departments regarding budget development and compliance.
Team Leadership and Cross-Training
Manage, train, and provide guidance to Accounting staff.
Crosstrain with other staff to provide backup during vacations, illnesses, and other absences, particularly in treasury functions.
Communicate important changes and developments to appropriate personnel; keep the CFO informed of plans and significant developments.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Ability to perform all aspects of the accounting cycle through closing and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
Thorough understanding of computerized accounting systems (experience with SYSPRO ERP is a plus).
Strong financial skills with the ability to create plans, budgets, and presentations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present numerical data effectively.
Ability to work and communicate effectively across departments and with external contacts such as vendors, customers, and contractors.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision from the CFO.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is a manufacturing facility. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
