About This Position
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Nursing Assistants perform tasks and procedures within their scope of practice under the supervision of a RN across all units in the Critical Access Hospital. Settings include Inpatient, Emergency Department, Obstetrics, Outpatient Services, and home settings.
QUALIFICATIONS:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- CNA preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret verbal and written medical terminology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written, verbal, and virtual communication, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, patients, and external partners.
- Demonstrated discretion of confidentiality to oversee sensitive information with integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple departments and provide care to a diverse patient population, including acute, chronic, neonate, pediatric, and geriatric needs.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Electronic Health Record platforms with attention to accuracy and compliance.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of unit specific protocols, workflows, equipment, and patient care standards within appropriate scope of practice.
- Maintains accurate and compliant electronic health records (EHR), meeting all documentation requirements.
- Engages proactively in continuous improvement of NA care practices.
- Assists the Nurse and/or Physician with direct patient care as needed, functioning as part of integrated health care team within scope of practice.
- Provides direct patient care by assessing vital signs, collecting necessary information, providing hands on comfort care, linen changes, and fall prevention.
- Collaborates with Nurses regarding patient needs for comfort care such as toileting, bathing, feeding and sitting with patients while engaging them in activities to occupy time.
- Cross trains and serves as the ED Registration Clerk as needed.
- Exhibits cultural competence by respecting and adapting to the diverse backgrounds and needs of patients and families.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a clinical setting, including Inpatient, Emergency Department, Obstetrics, and Outpatient Services. Responsibilities may include home visits, with on-call duties outlined by departmental needs. There is frequent exposure to contagious diseases. The role requires the ability to see, hear, speak, walk, sit, bend, kneel, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work hours are variable and depend on unit needs and shift assignments. Village travel may be necessary.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are dependent on the assigned clinical setting and may vary depending on unit needs. Weekends or evening hours may be necessary.
